Feijoa Feijoa ... What to do with them?
Feijoas are in season and I am super happy ... my kinda winter fruit! I have 3 bags of it on my kitchen table waiting for me first thing in the morning. Well, little kids were selling them and I had to buy them. For those of you not from the Southern Hemisphere, it is known as pineapple guava grown in sunny California. Check out http://www.feijoa.org.nz/ Well, you can sauce them, jam them, make all sorts of chutnies and things, add them to yoghurt, and even buy ice cream with feijoa in it ... Add them to good old apple crumble and feijoa will add the necessary zing. This week, I just have to bake with them ... watch this space to see what I can come up with.
