The Baking Diary: What is a Quince?

I get funny looks when I say quince, and someone suggested that quince is a berry.... very interesting! So, here is a photo of our fruit bowl. These lovely yellow quinces are in season now :)

". . . in an autumn morn, they woke to the sweet scones, those British quick breads . . . "

". . . the crisp air that blew from across the street, brought a "velvety rich aroma of that moist cake drizzled in syrup . . ."

". . . she could never forget the scent of those vanilla pods brought back from Madagascar . . . "
