Ginger and Pear Cake

This super moist and rich cake with the goodness of golden syrup is perfect for winter days. Pears are still cheap and all you have to do is slice it up and you cannot go wrong with mixing the cake mix. So, get your food processor out and place all dry ingredients in the mixing bowl. Melt the sugar with the liguid ingredients and pour the liguid mix into the dry mix with the motor running. Pour over sliced pears and bake at a moderate temperature. There, you have it! Ginger is an ancient winter warmer ... it might even help with winter chills and ills!

Ingredients: Fresh pears, 1 3/4c flour, 2.5 teaspoon baking powder, 1c brown sugar, 3/4c milk, 1c golden syrup, 1 egg, 125g butter. Suitable for a 20cmx30cm cake tin.

Where did it all go?

Well, it's been a year, and where did it go??.... This blog started exactly a year ago, and there were times I was too obssessed with blogging, way to obssessed ;) It is amazing how many times I have turned the oven on and off in the past year and how many pounds of butter were creamed with sugar and how many eggs were cracked ... and on the down side, how many cakes ended up in the bin cos they simply didn't cut the mustard :( too many in fact!

On a more serious note, it has been an amazing year of turning baking and blogging into a long lasting hobby. There will be more and more of it appearing here soon.

Next, it is time for some winter warmers! pics coming soon for a delicious pear and ginger cake ...
